Description

Ollanius Pius, one of the coolest characters in Warhammer 40k. At the end of the Horus Heresy he was a lowly guardsman that somehow ended up a the place where Horus and the Emperor had fought. Horus had just beaten the Emperor and was close to winning the war for Chaos, when Pius came into the room. Now normally mortal men couldn't even fight against a normal space marine, and Horus was a Primarch, a living god so to say, or more a War God... most men would have gone mad by seeing the Emperor beaten, but Pius stood against the War God without fear. Horus killed Pius like he was nothing, but that was what get the Emperor back in the fight and he won in the end... some would maybe call Pius a fool, but not me... he stood against a War God empowered by the dark forces of chaos to protect his Lord and Master.. and with that all of mankind (in 40k). That is how someone he was.

"Are you afraid, little man?" the insane Primarch asked.

"Yes, I am," I admitted.

"Then stand aside and let me finish this fool of an Emperor."

"No. I will not."

By this point, his annoyance was giving way to pure, burning rage.

"Do you not know who I am? I am Horus, greatest of the Primarchs! Chosen One of the Ruinous Powers! I am invincible! Unkillable!"

"That doesn't change anything. I will not move."

"WHY...NOT?" He growled those two words out through clenched, angry teeth. "You just said you were afraid."

"It is normal for men to feel fear. Only a fool says he isn't afraid. I am afraid, but that doesn't mean I will stand aside. That doesn't mean I will let you kill the Emperor. I adore and love him, just as he loves you, as you once loved him. I will not move, I will not bow, I will not kneel... I will not give one single inch to you or any beast who follows the Lords of the Warp. I will stand right here, and perhaps this will be where I will die. You may kill me, but you cannot kill my faith."

For several seconds, he didn't say anything. A strange expression came across his face. It almost looked like...respect.

"Perhaps not.." he finally said, before smiling. "But I can always try."

I raised my laspistol and fired it. The charges merely bounced off the Primarch's three-inch ceramite armor. He didn't even feel it. After expending the entire magazine, I tossed it aside, drew my knife and lunged forward. I stabbed downward into the large metal chest of my enemy, only for him to laugh, grab me and fling me aside like a broken marionette. I hit the floor with such force that something inside me was broken. My ribs, perhaps, or my leg.

Rising to my feet and grabbing a broken piece of metal, I made one last attack, charging at this...monster, this ancient being who had slaughtered so many of my comrades, my fellow humans, in the name of his own ambitions. It was hopeless, I knew, but whatever it took, even if I died, I would show him what a man could do, as long as he didn't give up.
